When Great Wine Meets a Greater Cause: Our Amsterdam Charity Tasting

Sipping for a Cause: Our Charity Wine Tasting in Amsterdam

On April 12th, I had the joy of hosting one of our most meaningful tastings yet — an intimate, sold-out evening in Amsterdam in partnership with Not These Ovaries and Clapham Specialty Coffee. Together, we raised $2,192 for ovarian cancer research while celebrating something equally powerful: women in wine.

As the founder of De Vino Root, I’m passionate about connecting people to stories behind the glass. For this event, we curated eight incredible wines crafted by women-owned wineries. Watching guests discover these wines — many for the first time — reminded me why I started hosting tastings in the first place: to turn wine into an experience that brings people closer together.

The evening unfolded in the warm glow of Clapham’s cozy space, where laughter and conversation filled the room. Between tastings, we talked about how every glass we raised that night supported Not These Ovaries’ mission to fund research for ovarian cancer subtypes that currently have limited treatment options.

A major highlight was our mini-auction of seven rare bottles brought by Alex Kroeger, board member of Not These Ovaries, which sparked friendly bidding wars and boosted our fundraising total. It was heart-warming to see how much people cared — not only about great wine but about making a tangible difference.

For me, it was such a proud moment to see De Vino Root contribute to something so impactful. Bringing people together over thoughtfully selected wines, creating space for connection, conversation, and purpose — that’s what this brand is all about.

This event was proof that wine can do more than delight the senses — it can make a real difference.
